Introduction

2A Center of Paragon City

Celebrating the Unique Values of Cities for a More Humane, Peaceful, and Sustainable Future

A Global Initiative of 2A Magazine

The 2A Center of Paragon City is an international initiative established by 2A Magazine to identify, celebrate, and promote cities that demonstrate excellence in human-centered development, sustainability, innovation, cultural identity, social inclusion, and peaceful urban living.

Through the Urban Interaction Forum, the Center creates a global platform where cities, urban districts, metropolitan regions, researchers, municipal leaders, professionals, and citizens can share knowledge, exchange experiences, and inspire one another through outstanding examples of urban achievement.

At its heart, the initiative seeks to reveal the unique value of every city and community. Every city possesses distinctive qualities, stories, traditions, innovations, and cultural assets that contribute to the richness of human civilization. By identifying and showcasing these qualities, the 2A Center of Paragon City helps cities gain international recognition while encouraging citizens to appreciate and strengthen the places they call home.

Our Vision

To establish a worldwide network of cities committed to advancing peace, prosperity, sustainability, human dignity, cultural understanding, and responsible urban development.

The initiative believes that cities are more than physical environments. They are living communities where people create culture, build relationships, shape identities, and develop opportunities for future generations.

The Paragon City Program encourages cities to recognize their strengths, learn from one another, and contribute to a global movement dedicated to improving urban life for all.

Through this collaborative environment, cities become both teachers and learners, contributing to a shared global vision of balanced, peaceful, and prosperous urban living.

Why This Initiative Matters

Every city has a unique identity.

Some cities preserve remarkable cultural heritage. Others excel in environmental stewardship, innovation, education, public art, tourism, social inclusion, or community well-being.

The Paragon City initiative was created to help cities discover, document, strengthen, and present these unique values to the world. The program encourages cities to ask:

  • What makes our city unique?
  • How can we better serve our citizens?
  • What can other cities learn from our experience?
  • How can we contribute to a more peaceful and sustainable future?

By answering these questions, cities become active participants in shaping a better world.

Cities may qualify in more than one category when their achievements demonstrate multiple urban values. The framework can be applied across different scales, including neighborhoods, districts, cities, and metropolitan regions.

Peace Cities: A New Global Urban Vision

Among the newest categories is the Peace City designation.

Peace Cities demonstrate how urban environments can become platforms for dialogue, social cohesion, cultural understanding, and international cooperation.

These cities promote:

  • Social harmony
  • Inclusivity
  • Cultural coexistence
  • Civic participation
  • Human dignity
  • Conflict prevention
  • International friendship

The Peace City concept reflects the belief that urban planning and civic leadership can actively contribute to building a more peaceful world.

Selection Criteria

Cities are evaluated through a structured assessment framework that considers:

  • Environmental sustainability

  • Urban innovation
  • Quality of governance
  • Cultural vitality
  • Public participation
  • Accessibility and inclusiveness
  • Economic resilience

The Paragon City Memorial Symbol

Recognized cities receive a Paragon City Memorial Board and Symbolic Sign as a lasting representation of their achievement.

The symbolic sign serves as:

  • A public statement of excellence
  • A source of civic pride
  • A reminder of shared urban values
  • A symbol of international recognition

Cities may also install a monumental version of the sign in a prominent public location as a permanent landmark celebrating their distinction.

A Message to Cities and Citizens

Every city has a story. Every neighborhood has knowledge. Every community possesses strengths that can inspire others.

The 2A Center of Paragon City invites cities, institutions, professionals, and citizens to participate in a collective effort to discover, celebrate, and share the qualities that make their communities unique.

By recognizing urban excellence, we not only honor successful cities—we encourage all cities to pursue a future defined by sustainability, innovation, inclusion, peace, and human well-being.

Together, we can create a global culture that values cities not only for what they build, but for how they improve the lives of the people who live within them.

Foundation and International Legacy

The Paragon City initiative builds upon the international legacy of 2A Architecture & Art Magazine, published continuously since 2006 as a global platform for architecture, urbanism, culture, design, and creative dialogue.

The initiative is further strengthened by the experience of the 2A Continental Architectural Awards, organized across Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and South & Central America, and hosted in major international cities including Istanbul, Vienna, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Dubai, and Shiraz.

Together, these activities have established a worldwide network dedicated to promoting excellence in architecture, urban development, cultural exchange, social responsibility, and the advancement of peaceful and prosperous communities.

The 2A Center of Paragon City continues this mission by creating a global platform where cities can learn from one another, celebrate their unique identities, and contribute to a brighter future for humanity.
